Once you start getting clients as a writer, be it Indian or International, you need to set up your own “cashless” payment methods for getting paid in an efficient and easy way.
Here’s a simple list of 3 Online Payments Services that I use with my clients abroad :
PayPal
PayPal is one of the world’s largest online payment services, used by over 3 billion users worldwide. PayPal ensures that it is a safer and easier way for transactions, and it definitely lives up to its name.
It barely takes around 5 mins to set up your payment profile on PayPal, and can be used for your business for a lifetime.
PayPal charges a whopping 5.5% charge in case you’re getting paid internationally in currencies other than INR.
But overall, PayPal is a secure way of making and receiving transactions internationally and nationally.
Payoneer
I had used Payoneer back when I was a Fiverr freelancer. And I never faced any difficulty with it.
Easy to set up and receive payments within hours, Payoneer is the best payment service for freelancers out there.
I was worried about the currency conversion while dealing with my Fiverr clients. However, Payoneer offers to set up 3 Free International Bank accounts in 3 different currencies (Dollars, Euros, and Pounds) and this feature helped me get paid fast and secure.
Payoneer only charges 2% transactional fees from individuals.
As PayPal, Payoneer is free to set-up
Wire
I discovered Wire while one of my clients raised an issue regarding the transaction charges of PayPal.
Unlike PayPal or Payoneer, Wire doesn’t charge exorbitant transaction rates. Furthermore, the payee can send you a payment directly to your bank account via Wire. It’s pretty faster compared to PayPal or Payoneer.
However, as a resident of India, you might not be able to send payments abroad from your side yet.
